Lightning in a Bottle
Written to the prompt Describe your most vivid childhood memory using only the 5 senses.
As I fall to the ground I see sand coming closer,Its welcome was one I was worried was happening too fast,The sand wrapped itself around me firmly,Its coarseness affirming that my body remained under my control as I brushed it off of my elbows,Lightning trapped in a bottle of gasoline thrown into a fire,This is how I would describe the pain in my knee as I attempted to rise,My own body denying me the right of will in retribution for my lack of care,I hear my sister weeping as concern surrounds me,She fears I will never walk again,The taste of sweat mixes with the taste of regret on my tongue,Both equally bitter,I suddenly hear myself scream,As if lightning trapped in a bottle of gasoline thrown into a fire
